John M. Michael
John Michael has been a strong advocate for the poor and underserved. He is known throughout Atlanta as being committed to serving his community and the city-at-large.
In 1984, John received a Bachelors of Art degree with Honors in Broadcast Management from Clark Atlanta University. In 1987, he enrolled at Georgia State University for graduate course work in Education. He has also studied Mass Communication at North Carolina A&T State University.
Mr. Michael was appointed to the Atlanta Citizen Review Board (ACRB) by the Atlanta Planning Advisory Board in June, 2007 for a one (3) year term representing NPUs ‘M’ through ‘R’.
As a member of the ACRB, John currently serves on three committees: Personnel Committee Public Awareness Committee and a member of Screening Panel II reviewing complaints currently under consideration for investigation.
Mr. Michael past professional experience include: WCLK-FM Radio, Clark Atlanta University, Broadcaster and co-anchor of sports, news, and creating PSAs; Education Campaign Georgia, Communication Specialist/Fundraiser; Atlanta Public Schools, Teacher; Matol Botanical International, LTD, Training & Development Supervisor; Atlanta Federation of Teachers, Staff Field Representative; North Carolina Association of Educators, Special Organizer/Recruiter; C A One Service, Inc, Concourse Operations Manager.
Mr. Michael’s current professional experience includes Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority (FACAA). He started with FACAA in 2004 and continues his affiliation to date as Community Distribution Manager assisting state sponsored food distribution for county agencies.
In 2007, he started working for Atlanta Journal Constitution as a Salesman/Promoter covering four county area promoting commercial subscriptions.
Mr. Michael has worked for the past 8 years in the DeKalb County Schools as a Substitute Teacher providing instruction at all grade levels including special education classes.
