Owen Montague
Owen Montague was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology from LaSalle University in Philadelphia. After graduating from LaSalle, he travelled to Fribourg, Switzerland as an exchange student to continue studying Clinical Psychology and French at the University of Fribourg. In 1973, Mr. Montague received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Graduate School.
Prior to moving to Atlanta in 1976, his past employment included Model Cities, Executive Director for Summer/Winter Supportive Program; Portfolio Associates, Inc, Partner; Westinghouse Broadcasting Company, Account Executive; Pennsylvania Office of Minority Business Enterprise, Executive Director/State Director.
In Atlanta, he worked as a Freelance Consultant from 1976 to 1982. Later in 1982, he co-founded and served as President of Atlanta Exchange until 1992 where he developed and managed the operations of a non-profit consortium of 27 African-American business and professional associations representing more than 2,700 members.
Mr. Montague continued to expand in the area of technology and in 1992, founded Montague Group, Inc. managing companies that provided database management and development; training and implementation; print graphics design, multimedia presentation design; Windows software training, Internet site design development and management. His client base consisted of non-profit organization, Fulton County Government and small businesses.
In 1997, he became the General Manager of Healthcare International Management Company in Atlanta. His key responsibilities included planning, over site and control of operations, finances, and organizational activities of the Atlanta-based healthcare management company with offices in Washington, D.C., Johannesburg, Capetown and Vrybury, South Africa. Other responsibilities included personnel management and budget and fiscal management. He also developed plans for and managed two (2) international AIDS conference that netted over $100,000 each in sponsorships, attracting over 300 attendees each year.
Today, Mr. Montague is the President & CEO of Atlanta based ValuePlexAuctions Consulting providing business development and technology services.
Also, he serves as the Technology Director for the Atlanta Business League (ABL) responsible for the design, development and management of all technology related to aspects of League operations; particularly, as it pertains to IT and Internet utilization.
In June, 2007, ABL appointed him to the Atlanta Citizen Review Board for a two (2) year term. As a member of the Board, he serves on several committees: Personnel Committee, Public Awareness Committee and is a member of Screening Panel III reviewing cases currently under consideration for investigation. When the Board was just beginning to organize, Mr. Montague made available his experience in technology and designed a web site for board members to engage in on-going communications between scheduled meetings. Members were able to view documents, provide feed-back on board business while being kept appraised of announcements, city business, media releases and news articles.
Mr. Montague is divorced and has a daughter attending Meharry Medical College. |
